Preserving Heritage Through Art
The Festival is a large-scale, multifaceted platform that, through cinema, music, and visual arts, creates a truthful chronicle of the Special Military Operation. It informs and engages its target audience by showcasing both the heroic deeds of its participants—Russian servicemen and volunteers—and the labor achievements of the people working toward a future Victory and the prosperity of Russia.
Contrary to what one might assume, this project is not about war itself. It is about service in the name of Life and in the name of the Fatherland.
It presents a candid account of the events in Donbas and explains the causes of the conflict in Ukraine, which triggered an unprecedented surge of Russophobia in unfriendly countries. The Festival also tells the story of life in the new territories, their people's movement toward reunification with their Greater Homeland—Russia—and their love for it.

FESTIVAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Over the three years of its operation, the Cinema in Service of the Fatherland Festival has carried out extensive educational and cultural outreach among students, university faculty, school teachers, and college communities.

The Festival introduces audiences to authentic portrayals of contemporary heroes as captured in films, poetry, paintings, and music. Screenings and concerts are held not only in educational institutions but also within government agencies, public organizations, military units, and hospitals. Importantly, the Festival actively brings films born of our challenging era to correctional facilities, where individuals often seek new points of reference and opportunities to rediscover their place within civil society.

A distinctive feature of the Cinema in Service of the Fatherland Festival is that its competition never truly ends. Throughout the year, we receive submissions from across the country from both established and emerging filmmakers, screenwriters, poets, musicians, and theatre creators who wish to present their work on the Festival’s platforms. Many regional artists join the movement year-round, significantly expanding our ability to respond dynamically to developments in the arts and to discover new talent as it emerges.
To date, the Cinema in Service of the Fatherland Festival has united 83 regions of Russia in a coordinated effort to promote education through the art of cinema. More than 1 million viewers have attended our film screenings in person, while over 200 million viewers have watched our films online.

The Festival has organized more than 500 events across educational institutions, featuring a variety of formats including film lecture series, special cinema campaigns, and meetings with directors and filmmakers.
